Winter Entertaining Beyond the Holidays!

We often associate the fall months with Halloween/Thanksgiving and the winter months particularly December, with Christmas. However, this should not be the only times we are inspired to entertain during the winter. Granted the fall months through December can be hectic. The winter months, with it shorter days and colder (frigid) weather sometimes may make one feel less festive and more like hibernating. For those of you who enjoy the outdoors during the winter season, there is ice skating, skiing, etc. However, it is also the perfect season to invite friends and family over for cozy supper. The question I have been asked repeatedly by some clients is "how do I set up a tablescape that is not too Christmas-y". Well there are many elements to creating a tablescape that doesnt echo the holidays.

The first begin with a nod to the wintery outdoors. Establish a color palette the reflects the winter season. Such colors as brown, frosty blue, gray and snow white, and evergreen. You can certainly intersperse some colors reflected in your home décor. If you like green and red you can incorporate these colors, but go for a more muted shade so as to eliminate the feel of traditional holiday colors. Second, add texture to your tablescape with such elements as pine cones, stark branches, river rock just to name a few. Third, think about your inspiration. Perhaps you want the feel of a lakeside retreat, rustic cabin, country side inn, or ski lodge. Finally, put that slow cooker to work. For example whip up a few batches of soups that freeze well so that you are not stuck cooking all day on the day of your dinner party. Add various breads such as artisan ciabatta, black pepper focassia and sourdough and voila!

If you still feel overwhelmed by the idea of putting a table scape together or just simply pressed for time, check out our website and shop listed below for various prepackaged tablescapes/ center pieces.
